Welcome back to the Diamonds Hatton blog where we bring you the latest updates from our Hatton Garden jewellers. As 2021 draws to a close after an unusual, yet busy, year. We set our sights on 2022 and explore some beautiful jewellery trends that will add style, glamour and a touch of elegance to any outfit.
One of the biggest trends on the catwalk, led by Gucci, is that of a 70’s throwback. The 70’s, an experimental era that has influenced decades of fashion and music, is known for its bold use of size and colour. 2022 will see this timeless style return to jewellery as designers seek the channel the era. Whilst the 2020’s were known for a minimalist style, we will see quite the opposite as maximalist comes back once again.
Big Rings
The popularity of baguette, pave settings has been on the rise for the last few years and we expect this chunky style to be a staple of many a jewellery box in 2022. The contrast between beautifully dainty diamonds and the clean and chunky setting means that big rings have an almost refined bohemian feel to them. In addition, we have also seen contemporary engagement rings increase in popularity and, whilst more dainty, the style echos the chunkier look of cocktail rings. In terms of diamond shapes that work well, emerald cut diamond enagement rings, think vintage, art-deco, work exceptionally well with the larger trend.
Chunky Necklaces
Chunky necklaces and chains have been an integral part of wider trends for a long time, and in 2022 this will be no different. Next year the chain will be chunkier than in 2021. Back then it was already big. The chunky chain will be seen in all possible ways, as a necklace, diamond tennis bracelet, earrings and rings, but even as a belt. In necklace form you see them most as a very long necklace or as a choker.
Large Stones
Whether pink diamonds, yellow diamonds or blue diamonds – any fancy coloured or loose white diamond will need to be big for 2022. Generally speaking, the most popular shapes will be pear and emerald cuts which allow for the saturated colour to truly sparkle with its brilliance. For over 40 years, our family owned business have worked with clients looking to buy a loose naturally coloured diamond, Whether you are looking for a single coloured diamond for a ring or pairs and sets for larger items of jewellery our friendly and knowledgeable team can assist you.
