Welcome back to the Diamonds Hatton Garden blog where we bring you the latest from our Hatton Garden jewellers. When you are looking to buy loose diamonds, or even buy pink diamonds, there are many factors to consider. Some people wish to set these elegant gemstones into rings, others into necklaces as a stunning centres tone and even into diamond bracelets. In today’s blog we look at a selection of diamond bracelets to inspire you as to this jewellery box staple.
Diamond bracelets come in all shapes, styles and designs. However, they do have factors in common. They are worn around the wrist, made from precious metals (white, yellow, rose gold and platinum for example) and, of course, feature diamonds. With so many different styles to choose from it can be hard to decide what to go for. When choosing an item of jewellery it is important to chose what you like and what you can see yourself in – diamond bracelets are no exception. We have chosen four of the most popular types of diamond bracelets to help you understand more about these gorgeous items.
When you think of a diamond tennis bracelet, more often than not you will have the image of a tennis bracelet in your mind. The tennis bracelet is the go to style of diamond bracelet and is by far the most popular. It’s not often that a piece of jewellery is named for an accident, but such is the case with tennis bracelets. The Tennis Bracelets got their unusual name from an incident involving Chris Evert during a 1987 match at the US Open tennis championships.
Chris had been wearing an expensive inline bracelet featuring a string of individually set diamonds during the game. Whilst involved in a long rally, the clasp snapped. She asked her opponent and the officials if they wouldn’t mind stopping the game until the bracelet was found. It was found, repaired, and now has a place in history. Available in a range of sizes and shapes most commonly a diamond tennis bracelet features round diamonds.
Vintage Bracelet
Vintage diamond bracelets are, as the name suggests, a vintage style of diamond bracelet. Characterised by art nouveau features these classic and timeless style works well with more formal attire and is generally popular for events and galas. Art Nouveau was a brief moment (c. 1890-1910), which had a lasting impact on jewellery design and many other arts. It was a completely new style based on original ideas, innovative materials and entirely different design principles. Sweeping lines, intricate, natural motifs and designs, are all hallmarks of an art nouveau diamond bracelet.
Modern Diamond Bracelet
A modern diamond bracelet can be seen as the evolution of the diamond bracelet. Drawing inspiration from previous generations and incarnations of what we would traditionally call a diamond bracelet, a modern bracelet can be a multitude of design styles. Embellished with clean lines and a minimalist look, the modern diamond bracelet movies away from the curves of previous looks in favour of a contemporary sleek look. Popular cuts of diamonds include the Emerald Cut, the Marquise cut (both nearly rectangular in shape) and, of course, the round brilliant cut.
